Giuseppe Barbaro is Associate Professor of Ocean Engineering at the ‘Mediterranea’ University of Reggio Calabria (Italy). His fields of interest include: mechanics of random sea waves; statistical properties of nonlinear random waves (short-term statistics); long-term statistics for the prediction of severe storms; coastal processes; random forces of sea waves on either coastal or offshore structures. He has published more than 100 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has a remarkable experience in advising and teaching. He has advised over 400 theses. Twenty of these theses focused on experiments in the NOEL. One thesis was awarded the first annual prize dedicated to Prof. Supino. Moreover, he advised 6 Master theses and 1 PhD thesis on Ocean Engineering. He co-authored the book “Sul rischio ondoso nei mari italiani” published by the National Council Research – National Group for defense of Hydrogeological Disasters (1999).
